Did I catch a glimpse of a running backstay? Do you always need to use the running backstays? Or only when you reef main and use staysail only? Regards -- Gordo
Ahoy Gordo,
I always use the windward running back stay when out at sea, whether sailing or motoring. When sailing, especially with the staysail flying you can sight up the mast and see some forward bend in the middle. The running back does not prevent the bend put stops the pumping motion. Westsail masts are not meant to be bent, but ram rod straight.
